(Photo by Mike Stobe/Getty Images)ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit named a potential College Football Playoff “dark horse” national title contender this week.The veteran ESPN analyst is liking a team out of the Big 12…Herbstreit believes Texas, coming off a Sugar Bowl win over Georgia, is heading into the 2019 season with a lot of promise.The ESPN analyst is buying the Longhorns as a potential “dark horse” national title team. “I love to go to the Kentucky Derby and I’m a horse racing guy, so I hate the favorite,” Herbstreit said on SportsCenter this morning. “So in this case, I’m trying to beat the favorite. Because of that, I see value with Texas at 20/1. With (Sam) Ehlinger coming back, he’s got enough weapons led by Collin Johnson. I think this team can make some noise and there’s very good chance they go to Dallas against Oklahoma undefeated.“If they’re able find a way to win it, look out, because Texas can be one of those teams to keep an eye on.”Texas, which should begin the 2019 season ranked inside the top 15, has a huge non-conference game in LSU.The Longhorns will also have to go through Oklahoma and others in the Big 12.Texas begins its 2019 season on Aug. 31 against Louisiana Tech.last_img
