Khaleda undergoes medical tests

first_imgKhaleda ZiaBNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday underwent some medical tests at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), reports UNB.Khaleda, who has been kept in a cabin on the sixth floor of the hospital, was taken to the ground floor for the tests.As part of regular health check-up, physicians conducted chest, lung tests and a City Scan, said brigadier general Abdullah Al Harun, director of BSMMU.Later, she was brought back to her cabin around 2:15pm.On 6 October, Khaleda Zia was admitted to the BSMMU after prison authorities shifted her there from the abandoned central jail in old Dhaka, following a court order.On 4 October, the High Court directed the government to immediately admit Khaleda Zia to the BSMMU and form a 5-member medical board afresh for her treatment.Khaleda Zia was in the erstwhile abandoned central jail at Nazimuddin Road since she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on 8 February.On 16 September, a medical board formed by the government for jailed Khaleda, suggested admitting her to a hospital like BSMMU though they have found ‘no symptom of any serious disease’ in her.last_img
