Master Chief goes to college to sell Windows PCs

first_imgI recall my initial tour of the University of Kentucky campus to be a pretty dry affair. There was a a lot of walking and some mildly interesting facts muttered about the names lettered onto various buildings. One thing that was definitely missing from my tour was a uniformed UNSC Spartan from Halo. That has a lot to do with the fact that the original Xbox wasn’t even a daydream back in 1994, but I still feel like I got the shaft after watching Microsoft’s latest promo spot.AdChoices广告The clever 30-second clip (which you can watch below) features the Spartan getting dinged in the helmet by an inaccurate frisbee toss. His return fling is a tad overpowered, and mild hilarity ensues. It’s all about creating more buzz for Microsoft’s back-to-school promotion, which offers up a free 4GB Xbox 360 console to any student who purchases a Windows PC priced $699 or higher. The offer is valid until September 3, 2011 in the U.S. and Canada, and while the 4GB of storage may have you saying “meh,” it’s still about a $200 throw-in. Apple’s only waving a $100 gift certificate for the App Store,  iTunes, and its other online offerings for a back-to-school deal.Sure, it would have been even cooler if our anonymous Spartan friend had rolled up in a Scorpion or bailed out of a passing Pelican, but at least you can daydream about sharing a dorm room with a guy who knows how to handle a gravity hammer.More at Windows Team Bloglast_img
