CLUB PLAYERS EXPRESS FRUSTRATION AS CCC POSTPONE FIXTURES

first_imgGAA: It’s the summer, and yet again club players are getting restless after the latest round of scheduled fixtures were postponed by the CCC. This weekend, a round of ‘star’ fixtures were set to be played, but were postponed earlier this week which has left club players kicking their heels. In some cases some club players have now went a full month without playing a game, and some feel the latest decision by the CCC was ‘unnecessary’. Some players feel there is an emphasis to play a lot of league games from March – May, squeeze in a round of Donegal SFC action – and then see how it goes for the rest of the summer without any real plan. It’s frustrating for some club players, and they feel the decision to postpone ‘star’ fixtures which were created for the sole purpose to alleviate fixture congestion doesn’t make sense. They’re also worried that fixture postponements will be a recurring theme for the summer ahead. One player who wishes to remain anonymous told Donegal Daily, “It’s frustrating and I fear it’s a bad omen for the rest of the summer. “If they’re pulling ‘star’ fixtures which was created to make sure players get games, then it’s not a good sign for things ahead.“I think there’s a perception on the committee that if there’s lots of league games between March and May, and a round of the Donegal SFC throw-in for good measure, then it’ll be OK.“We’ll see how the summer pans out, and work around Donegal rather than having fixtures tied down on certain dates.“It’s a nightmare, I’ve gone four weeks without a match, and it just seems to be the same old story every year.”CLUB PLAYERS EXPRESS FRUSTRATION AS CCC POSTPONE FIXTURES was last modified: June 30th, 2016 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:AngerCCCfixturesFrustrationGAAnewsSportlast_img
