Next weeks jackpot is €4,460 Senior MenMilford 2-8 Naomh Padraig Lifford 0-8 An efficient performance from the boys last Sunday in O Donnell park Letterkenny. The scoreline probably flatters Lifford as Milford were in control for the vast majority of the game which was played in wet and breezy conditions. Milford played with the advantage of a swirling breeze in the first half and went in at half time annoyed that they hadn’t made their dominance in position result in a greater margin than 6 points to 3. The second half was much the same except Milford had to resort to a short passing game to work it up the field, however this tactic resulted in 2 goals for Cathal Mc Gettigan. With 10 minutes to go Milford had Paul Sweeney sent off after retaliating to a punch from a Lifford half forward before Lifford had their full back sent off in injury time after a number of dangerous tackles with a closed fist. It didn’t matter in the end to Milford as they were cheered over the end line by a good turnout from the supporters. Best for Nigel Black’s team were Paddy Peoples, Pauric Curley and Cathal McGettigan.Team: Caolan Mc Gettigan (0-2, 2 45s), Tj Evesson, Barry McNulty, Cormac Friel (Conor McNulty, 50m), Dean Burgess, Dermot Friel, Enda McHugh (Oisin Barrett, 55m), Luke Barrett (0-2), Paul Sweeney, Cathal McGettigan (2-1), Chippie Barrett (Kevin McGee, 60m), James Gallagher (PJ Hagan, 40m), Kevin McGee (Lorcan Friel, 50m), Pauric Curley (0-3), Paddy PeoplesUnder 21’sMilford 0-21 Dungloe 2-12Milford impressed as they beat Dungloe in the Under 21 ‘A’ Championship last week at Moyle View Park, but they had to survive a late scare to secure their passage to the next round. Darragh Black and James Whelan kicked excellent points as Milford raced into an early lead, with captain Tj Evesson to the fore, setting up attack, after attack. However, Dungloe settled into the game and good scores from David McCarron and Conor Greene brought them back to within two points with twenty minutes gone. Milford responded superbly, kicking four scores in a row to go in at half-time in control. Kieran Mc Laughlin, Christopher Barrett, Mark Flood and Luke Barrett scored as Milford’s direct running caused havoc for the Dungloe defence. Christopher Barrett and Kane Barrett added to Milford’s tally after the restart, but a goal from Darren Curran and a point from Corey Gallagher brought Dungloe back into contention. Cathal Mc Gettigan was on top-form with his free-taking, yet despite Shaun Paul Barrett’s side’s dominance, they couldn’t pull away from the Dungloe men. Jack Scally somehow managed to squeeze the ball into the Milford net in injury time, to set up a compelling finale. However, an excellent point from Luke Barrett ensured a deserved victory for the Milford men.Milford: Seamus O’Donnell, Kieran McLaughlin (0-1), Dean Burgess, Ross Conaghan, Ryan Ferry, Tj Evesson, Tony McNamee, Christy McCafferty, Luke Barrett (0-5, 3f), Cathal McGettigan (0-3, 3f), Christopher Barrett (0-7), Glen McElhinney, Darragh Black (0-1), Kevin McGee, James Whelan (0-1) Subs: Mark Flood for McCafferty (inj), Kane Barrett (0-2, 1f) for McElhinney.Under 14’sCongratulations to the under 14’s who qualified for the county final after two great win’s over Glenfin and Red Hughes last week. Keep an eye on the website and facebook page for details of the final. LadiesHard luck to Amber Barrett, Orla McAteer and Shannon McGroddy who were part of the Donegal team that were beaten in the under 16 Ulster final last Saturday. They came up against a very good Tyrone team and were beaten by a point in extra time. The three girls played very well and done the club proud.WebsiteFor all the latest information and news checkout the new look club website at GAA NEWS: MILFORD GAA CLUB NOTES was last modified: July 31st, 2012 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:Milford GAA club noteslast_img
