Dave Matthews To Perform At Bernie Sanders Voter Rally Concert

first_imgWith the primary in California coming up shortly, presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is doing his part to raise youth awareness before the big vote. Sanders has announced a “Get Out The Vote” concert in San Francisco, coming up next Monday, June 6th, and the show has a fun lineup with a number of great groups.Headlining the event will be Dave Matthews, who will head to the West Coast event for a brief getaway from the Dave Matthews Band summer tour. The group is scheduled to perform in Holmdel, NJ on June 7th.Dave Matthews has been a spoken supporter of Sanders in the past, saying: I can stand up and say, “If I was President, I would make everybody’s boobs bigger, and I would make men stronger, and everybody would be happy, and everybody would be fed, and the oceans would be clean, and everyone would have jobs. And that’s what I’ll do if I’m President.” Wait, do you shit money? What are you fucking talking about? There’s no way you can do anything but damage our children’s future by claiming you can spend more money to make us stronger, make us better, make us happier, make the whole world a better, more peaceful place, and cut taxes and have less government. ‘Cause you’re just talking about something that’s fucking impossible. Also performing at the voter rally is Fishbone, Fantastic Negrito, and John Dexter Stewart, with special guest talks from Dr. Cornel West, Shailene Woodley and Danny Glover. The event is free to the public and you can RSVP here.last_img read more

Steven Tyler Is Putting Aerosmith ‘To Bed’ After 2017 Farewell Tour

first_imgDuring a recent visit to Howard Stern‘s radio show, Steven Tyler confirmed reports that Aerosmith plans to disband following a farewell tour in 2017. Explained Tyler, “I love this band, I really do, and I want to squash every thought that anybody might have about this. We’re doing a farewell tour, but only because it’s time. We’ve never done that.” However, Tyler said he would not rule out making one last studio album with the band, who have been playing together since 1970. “Look,” Tyler told Stern, “there’s two bands that still have the original members, us and the Stones. I’m grateful for that.”Tyler’s comments to Stern corroborate what Aerosmith’s Brad Whitford said in an interview late last year: “We are actually talking about…putting together a sort of wind-down tour which we would call the Farewell. I guess it’s just because of our age. You know, something’s gonna happen. It’s just inevitable that somebody’s not gonna be able to do it anymore. So it would be very nice to take a long bow and say thank you and…put it to bed gracefully.”There have been murmurs about the end of Aerosmith since Tyler announced his solo country album to the obvious annoyance of his longtime bandmates. Said Joe Perry about the album, “If I didn’t know him when I heard the song I’d go, ‘It’s okay, next.’ He’s got a fucking rhinestone cowboy hat going, ‘yippie ki yay!’ I don’t know what else to say about that. But the negativity hasn’t gotten to Tyler, who responded to the barb by saying that “jealousy runs deep in this family.”Listen to the full interview from Howard Stern below, and keep an eye out for further details about the 2017 Farewell Tour as they become available.[H/T – Consequence of Sound]last_img read more

Giorgio Moroder, Armand Van Helden & More To Bring The 70’s To ‘I Feel Love’ Event

first_imgOn September 9 and 10, New York is going back in time, to when nightlife was about more than which club had the most lasers, who bought the biggest bottles, and which superstar DJ the crowd would be Instagramming. ‘I Feel Love’ promises to transport attendees to the disco era, promising a ‘groundbreaking immersive experience’ that sounds like Studio 54 mixed with Sleep No More in an abandoned warehouse in Brooklyn.Details about the mysterious event are scarce, but it is not for the faint of heart. Potential ticket buyers are warned “this event is not recommended for attendees who are not comfortable standing, walking, climbing stairs, being touched, interacting with participants, or being alone”. A warning like makes you wonder what exactly may be in store for the evening. While ‘I Feel Love’ is focusing on the experience, it doesn’t mean the line-ups aren’t completely stacked. Headlining both nights is legendary disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder, responsible for the event’s namesake track ‘I Feel Love’, along with a slew of hits including ‘Hot Stuff’, ‘Bad Girls’, ‘Last Dance’, ‘On The Radio’, ‘Flashdance…What A Feeling’, and, more recently his Daft Punk collaboration, ‘Giorgio by Moroder’. If you listened to music in the 70’s or watched a movie in the 80’s (Scarface, Top Gun) – you heard Giorgio. Supporting him are the likes of Armand Van Helden, Jackmaster, Soul Clap, Oliver, and former Studio 54 resident Nicky Siano.Tickets for this once in a lifetime event are available now at the official website.last_img read more

Watch Exclusive Videos Of The String Cheese Incident’s “Stringier Things” Performance

first_imgOne of the most fun parts of Suwannee Hulaween is the annual set of themed covers that The String Cheese Incident plays for the event. Last year’s Ghoul Train set has taken a well earned place in the annals of Cheese history, so this year’s 80’s themed set had a lot to live up to. With the immensely popular, Reagan-era based Stranger Things series on the top of Netflix queues, it was a no-brainer for Cheese to adopt it and perform a stellar set of tunes under the “Stringier Things” banner.Enlisting the horn section of the afrobeat world music band Antibalas as well as guest vocalists Rhonda Thomas and Tony White, The String Cheese Incident showed off the incredible versatility for which they are revered. Equally at home playing the driving punk of The Clash as they were with the brassy flourishes of The Eurythmics classic “Would I Lie To You”, the band put on a delightful set that everyone enjoyed. Our own Rex Thomson braved confetti canons, pillars of fire, giant Rubik’s Cubes and yes…the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to capture the first three songs of the amazing set for us all to enjoy!  Check out the incredible fun below!“Would I Lie To You”“Should I Stay Or Should I Go?”“Upside Down”last_img read more

Kendrick Lamar Proclaims Prince Lives On Through Him On New Remix Of Future’s “Mask Off” [Listen]

first_imgThis morning, star Atlanta rapper Future released a brand new remix of his April ’17 single “Mask Off” from his self-titled official debut album, and it features a verse from a famous friend: the one and only Kendrick Lamar. The release follows the two rappers’ recent onstage collaborations on the flute-laced song during at Coachella, which saw Future joined Lamar during both of his headlining performances. You can watch fan-shot video of Future and Kendrick performing “Mask Off” at Coachella on 4/16/17 below, courtesy of YouTube user wyatt case:The two artists’ vastly different sounds mesh perfectly on the new “Mask Off” remix. Future’s auto-tuned ad-libs and drugged-out refrain lays the sonic groundwork over a beat that sounds like it could have come off Lamar’s 2016 project untitled unmastered to begin with. Kendrick’s verse sees the Compton native in “victory lap” form, riding high on the resounding critical and commercial success of his recent LP, DAMN. Kung Fu Kenny waxes philosophical about achieving success while staying true to his roots (How y’all let a conscious n**** go commercial/ While only makin’ conscious albums) and confidently tells his detractors to kiss the ring (Everybody who didn’t pay respect/ Gotta ‘fess up now and pay your debt). He also tips his hat to Prince, proclaiming that he will keep the late legend alive through his own music (She said she broke down when Prince died, It’s alright/Bitch my hair down, Prince live through me, I am Prince).Check out Future’s new “Mask Off” remix featuring Kendrick Lamar below, via AudioMack:[h/t – Genius][Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images for Coachella]last_img read more

Jack White Releases New Singles For The First Time In 4 Years [Listen]

first_imgFollowing a mysterious video posted in December called “Servings and Portions from my Boarding House Reach”, the buzz around Jack White’s new album has growing. Called Boarding House Reach, the album will mark White’s third solo album and the first formal music project he’s released since 2014’s Lazaretto.Jack White Teases New Solo Project In Mysterious Video Featuring Neal Evans & Louis Cato [Watch]Today, White dropped the lead single off the new album, “Connected By Love” and its subsequent music video directed by Pasqual Gutierrez, as well as a second track called “Respect Commander”. Both of these numbers also feature drummer Louis Cato (Beyoncé/Q-Tip/John Legend), keyboardist Neal Evans (Soulive/Talib Kweli/John Scofield), bassist Charlotte Kemp Muhl (The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger), percussionist Bobby Allende (David Byrne), and backing vocalists Ann and Regina McCrary of the gospel trio The McCrary Sisters.“Connected By Love” was produced and recorded in three different locations across the United States—Sear Sound in New York City, Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, and Third Man Studio in Nashville—marking the first time White has ever recorded an album in the cities of L.A. or NYC. Both songs will appear on the upcoming album, Boarding House Reach. As White told Rolling Stone, the song was written in his Nashville apartment. He elaborated, “I just started humming notes out loud, staring out the window. After that, you really can’t explain it. You just have to get out of the way and let it happen. And you don’t really notice it as it’s happening.” He also told the media outlet that originally the refrain said “I’m Infected By Love”, adding, “I thought ‘Well, people won’t get that metaphor — they’ll turn that into, ‘Well, Do you have an STD, or something?’ [laughs] It might hurt the rest of the messages of the song if I kept that as the main thing. So I changed ‘Infected’ to ‘Connected’ and then started to feed off of that.”You can watch the music video for “Connected By Love” and listen to “Respect Commander” below. For those who are digging what they’re hearing, you can purchase limited-edition 7″ vinyls of the tracks at Jack White’s Third Man Records’ stores in Nashville and Detroit this Saturday, January 13th.last_img read more
