first_img Live Stats Drake Game Notes Fox Sports Go The Drake University men’s basketball team begins postseason play Thursday evening in the first round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament against Bradley. Tipoff against the Braves is set for 8:30 p.m. with the contest being broadcast on MVC TV outlets including Fox Sports Midwest.The Bulldogs’ first opponent is a familiar one. Drake and Bradley closed the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 25, with Bradley winning, 82-74. Prior to that, the teams met Feb. 4 with the Braves prevailing, 79-72, in Peoria.The two teams also bring opposite streaks to St. Louis as Bradley won three-straight games to close the season while the Bulldogs are on a nine-game skid.Drake is third in scoring in MVC games by averaging 71.6 points per game against league foes while Bradley ranks ninth with 64.8 points per game against league foes. In two games against Bradley this season, Graham Woodward (Edina, Minn.) has scored 34 points including a season-high 22 points in the season finale. The junior has connected on 7-of-12 three-pointers against the Braves as well.In the last four games, Woodward is averaging 15.5 points per game while shooting 15-of-24 from the three-point arc.Earlier this week, junior Reed Timmer was named to the All-MVC third team. The honor is the fifth postseason MVC honor for the guard who now has 1,337 career points to rank ninth all-time in Drake history.The winner of Thursday’s game advance to the MVC Tournament quarterfinals against No. 2 seed Wichita State.
